Processing & Shipping Information

  • • Current processing time is anywhere between 1-3 weeks. Please only place an order if you are happy and willing to wait, as I cannot guarantee a time that any individual order will take for me to prepare and dispatch. Though I have added up to 3 weeks, your order will likely ship out earlier, I like to give some leeway as sometimes I may need the extra time during busier periods and holidays. I usually send out most orders within 1-2 weeks after placing an order, however please message me if you have a rush and I will try my best to accommodate!

    • All toys are handmade to order, so please allow time for creation, previous orders, as well as how busy I am in my work and personal life. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. No toys or items are stocked here at Busy Beaks HQ.

  • • Postage fees are now weight-based. This means all items in my store have been weighed and the postage fee will depend on your location and how many items you have in your order. These fees are set accordingly through Australia Post to cover both the postage and packaging fees.

    • Orders are sent through Australia Post in eco-friendly and recyclable packaging including paper, tape, parcel bags, and new or re-used cardboard boxes. Tracking provided.

    • Unfortunately, due to bio security and quarantine restrictions, any toys or items containing food or plant matter cannot be mailed into TAS or WA (i.e. toys containing grass or native seed pods/materials etc). Busy Beaks Bird Toys is not liable for lost or delayed orders due to incorrect address details provided at checkout.

    • If an order is returned to us due to an incorrect address, failure to collect from the post office, or any other delivery issue outside of our control, the customer will have the following options:

    1. Reshipping – We can resend the order, but the customer must pay a second shipping fee before the package is dispatched again.

    2. Refund – If the customer no longer wants the order, we can issue a refund minus the original shipping fee. Refunds will not be available for custom or perishable items.

  • • For the health and wellbeing of pets and the possible contamination of toys, I do not accept returns if packages have been opened and items handled/used. However, if your parcel has arrived with items that are damaged or unusable, I am more than happy to organise either a refund for the items, store credit discount voucher, or replacement (replacement will depend on material stock at the time). Photo evidence of the damaged goods and parcel/packaging will need to be provided beforehand.

Toy Safety & Care

  • • My toys are made with love and care using safe materials, however as no toy is ever 100% bird safe, please supervise playtime when you can, check your new and existing toys regularly and remove any loose, hanging, or fraying parts to avoid any accidents.

    • All toys are metal, cotton and fabric free, however even with toys made using natural Seagrass, Jute, or Sisal - these are NOT intended to be consumed and may not always be suitable for your pet. Particularly heavier chewers or birds that like to eat fibres. Please remove any toys/parts if you notice excessive chewing or swallowing.

    • I am not to be held responsible for pet misuse of my products. You know your small pet best and should offer toys that are best suited to their size and chewing needs.

  • All seagrass matting used for my products and toys get a thorough brush and are disinfected with a natural disinfectant. They are then completely sun and air dried outside.

  • Whilst designed mainly for birds and parrots, a lot of my products can also be enjoyed by other small pets such as rabbits, rats, mice, sugar gliders and guinea pigs. I have noted at the bottom of item descriptions whether they are suitable for pocket pets. Please double check toy information first and be sure to choose toys wisely in regard to chewing/ingesting behaviours before purchasing for your non-feathered little friend, as some of my items may not be suitable.

Bird-Safe Plants: A Guide to Bird-Friendly Greenery

Not sure which native plants are safe for your birds?

Below are some picture examples of great native plants you can collect and offer for your birds to browse! Many of these come in different colors and can usually be found in local bushland, parks, or along walking tracks. There are plenty of other safe options as well—I’ll include a link at the bottom with a more comprehensive list, including both safe and toxic plants.

When foraging, choose healthy-looking foliage that is free from bird droppings, disease, or exposure to chemicals. Avoid plants growing near busy roads. I often place fresh branches straight into my birds' cages after a quick rinse, but for extra precaution, washing them with diluted vinegar water is a good practice. It's essential to select safe plants, as some can be highly toxic to birds.

If you collect nuts or seed pods, be sure to brush and rinse them thoroughly. Allow them to dry well in the sun, or bake them on a low setting in the oven for an hour or two to eliminate any pests. Native nuts and pods make fantastic crunchy foot toys and can also be added to foraging toys or drilled and attached to toys for natural enrichment.

If your bird loves to bathe like mine, try wetting some leafy branches and hanging them up—many birds enjoy fluffing their feathers against damp leaves!

What are the benefits of native foliage?

Offering plant materials is beneficial for any pet bird, as they enjoy peeling bark from branches, nibbling on leaves and getting their beak into the seed pods. It’s also a free alternative to toys if your bird just isn’t a fan of chewing on homemade or store-bought products—sometimes they may just prefer more simple and natural enrichment!
